Art at St Bernadette Primary School


Curriculum Provision

     The Foundation Stage teach Art as part of Creative Development

      In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Art is taught termly alternating with DT so a year group will either do 2 units of DT and 1 Art or 1 DT unit and 2 units of Art.

     The current Art curriculum is skills based and from year 1 children build up their skills and work more independently and with a range of materials as they progress through the school.

      The children have a hardback sketchbook which they keep with them throughout the school and refer back to.      


   Art Family Homework

      Throughout the school year there is homework which can be done as a family.  In previous years this has included work linked to the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee.  We held an exhibition of everyone’s work.
